In simple and plain explanation, to fletch is to glue a feather or vane to an arrow shaft. The art of fletching is done in order to aerodynamically stabilize the arrow on its flight once it is released. These fletches are attached at the butt-end of the projectile, to stabilize its flight, despite of air resistance. Also, some fletches have something to do and highly affects the spin of the arrow once it is released.
