The arrow has basically five parts: the arrowhead, the shaft, crest, fletching, and nock. |

The arrowhead is the most functional part of an arrow, in which this is the part that causes the damage to a target. It is a pointed projectile attached at the front end of the shaft. The sizes and structures of arrowheads vary depending on its purpose of use. There are arrowheads specially designed for target shooting, hunting, for wars (during the medieval ages), and other related purposes. The shaft is also one of the most important parts of an arrow, since the other elements such as the arrowheads, fletching, and nock are attached to it. A modern shaft is usually made from aluminum, fiberglass or wood; while the traditional ones are made from bamboo or reeds. The length of an arrow shaft used for archery more or less ranges from 80 to 90 cm. |

(...continuation) Fletchings are usually made from feathers or plastic material and is found at the other end of the shaft, opposite to the arrowhead. The main purpose of the fletching is to stabilize the flight of the arrow once it is released. |

The nock is placed at the far end of the arrow, next to the fletching. Nocks come in different sizes and shapes, depending on the bow and arrow. Its purpose is to clip the arrow unto the bowstring, so that the archer can hold the arrow properly while setting it up to a target. |
